Time Keeper by Mitch Albom

The Time KeeperThe Time Keeper by Mitch Albom
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Another fabulous story from Mr. Albom. While the story requires some acceptance of non-linear story-telling, it has an amazing moral to share. The entire message of our attempts to order time. The reality is, time is in control, not us. Not one of us can add a minute to our life by worry, power, guilt, money, prestige, or fame. Nor should we discount our existence as too small, unnoticed, immaterial, or ineffective. This story does a superb job of reminding us about what matters more than worrying about time. "When you are measuring life, you are not living it."

Dream Eyes by Jayne Ann Krentz

Dream Eyes (Dark Legacy, #2)Dream Eyes by Jayne Ann Krentz
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Interesting connections to her other books. Enough history to tie things together, and plenty of possibilities for new books. Overall, it has the usual storyline with a few dfferent characters. Really like the cat, Max. Kept the story going to the last page, and leaves you wanting to know what's next.

A Winter Dream

A Winter DreamA Winter Dream by Richard Paul Evans
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Excellent book, as always. I enjoy his writing. This is a modern telling of the Biblical story of Joseph. Having been a recent (and huge) fan of Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat, I especially enjoyed the various references and re-telling of the story. Well done, believable as a modern story, and fitting for the holidays. I think it would also be a worth-while read for someone who is not familiar with the story of Joseph.

Notorious Nineteen by Janet Evanovich

Notorious Nineteen (Stephanie Plum, #19)Notorious Nineteen by Janet Evanovich
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Interesting book - feels like the characters have changed some, which is good. After 18 books, you know how the storyline goes, so hopefully she writes something new. Not the best of the series, but better than some of the more recent ones. If you enjoy the Morelli vs. Ranger storyline, you get a taste of that as well.

Last Boyfriend

The Last Boyfriend (Inn BoonsBoro, #2)The Last Boyfriend by Nora Roberts
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

2nd book in the Boonsboro Trilogy, and I have to say I enjoyed the first book much more. I felt that the high point of the book was reached halfway through, and I didn't know what there was left to cover for the rest of the book. Good characters, but weak plot, in my opinion. First book had more drama and mystery. Second book felt like a weak attempt to match the first book. I will finish the series out of curiosity. Still enjoy her books.

Crystal Gardens

Crystal Gardens (Ladies of Lantern Street, #1)Crystal Gardens by Amanda Quick
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Kind of disappointed in this book. I'm a big fan of Amanda Quick/Jayne Anne Krentz/Jayne Castle, but there was something lacking in this book. I wasn't surprised or intrigued by the plot, and it didn't have the punch that so many of her other Amanda Quick books have. I'm not sure if it's because I'm tired of the Arcane trilogy spin-offs, or if something has changed in her writing. She is a good author, I just wasn't invested in this book. I will still finish the series, but I'm hoping she focuses in another direction soon.

Sixteen Brides by Stephanie Grace Whitson

Sixteen BridesSixteen Brides by Stephanie Grace Whitson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Excellent story. I enjoy Stephanie Grace Whitson's historical fiction, especially since it is typically based in Nebraska. This book was especially interesting since it follows several different story plots. I wasn't sure it was going to be cohesive, but I was interested to the end. She also includes some Christianity references, which grounds the book nicely. Everything feels very authentic and honest. Hated to put it down!
